Diamond Tree Wrap

A J40 diamond light throws light in every direction, which is what a wrapped trunk needs. One black cord spirals up the trunk and out the main branches with a light every two feet, so the tree reads as a shape from every angle.

Priced at $22 per light, which works out to $11 per foot of wrap path, plus a $495 system line unless it shares a controller with a roofline package.

How it's installed

We measure the wrap path at the visit: trunk circumference times the number of spirals, plus each branch. A typical 30-foot maple with four main branches takes 80 to 100 lights.

Trees over 20 feet need a lift, which is a surcharge quoted up front.

Does wrapping hurt the tree?

We wrap loosely with no fasteners in the bark and leave room for growth. We recheck tension at the annual service visit. Nothing is screwed or nailed into the tree.

How many lights does my tree need?

Roughly 3 lights per foot of trunk height plus 8 to 12 per major branch. A 25-foot maple with four branches is about 90 lights, around $2,000 plus system.

Can I wrap a Douglas fir?

Firs are usually lit differently, with a spiral up the trunk and lights out along the lowest tiers, since you can't wrap a canopy. We'll show you at the measure.

Open Google Maps, search your address, switch to satellite view.
Right-click on a roof corner and choose Measure distance.
Click each corner along the roof edges you want lit. The total in feet shows at the bottom.
Add about 15% for gables you can't see from above. That is your number.
