Permanent lighting warranty and maintenance in plain English, ours and everyone else's

Warranty pages in this industry are written to be read fast and understood slowly. This one covers what is included on our installs, what the other brands' headline warranties actually say, and what a permanent system needs from you over ten years, which is almost nothing.

What we warrant

Lights and controller carry Minleon's manufacturer warranty: one year standard, with a three-year premium warranty available from Minleon. Our workmanship warranty covers the mount, the wiring and the install itself. The exact terms are printed on your quote before you sign.

In practice: a failed light within the warranty is swapped at no charge for the part, and a bracket or channel that fails on our install is fixed at no charge under workmanship. Outside the warranty, a service visit is a flat call-out plus parts at our cost.

We would rather print a short warranty we will honor than a long one with exclusions. Ask us to walk through it at the measure.

What 'lifetime' means elsewhere

Trimlight's lifetime warranty is defined as 50,000 hours of use on parts, with labor beyond the first year up to the dealer, no transfer to a new owner, and app, Wi-Fi and network problems excluded. Gemstone's lifetime covers the lights, with ten years on other parts, one year of labor, registration required within 30 days, and one transfer. Jellyfish is five years on parts and one on labor. EverLights excludes UV fading. Govee is three years.

None of those is bad; all of them are shorter in practice than the headline, because labor is the expensive part of a claim in year four and most warranties hand that to the dealer or to you.

What fails and how it's fixed

Individual lights. Each pebble or puck twist-locks into the strand; a failed one is swapped in a minute, and the rest of the strand keeps working around it.

Power supplies. IP67 supplies live outdoors for years, but a supply is the part most likely to be replaced in a decade. It plugs in.

Controllers. Firmware updates come through the app; hardware failure means a swap with the same schedules restored from the app.

Tape and brackets. On a clean, cured bond, VHB is the last thing to fail. If a section ever lifts, it's a bracket and re-bond, covered under workmanship on our installs.

Maintenance

Nothing scheduled is required. We offer an optional annual check: test every light, retension tree wraps, confirm the app and schedules, and clean the lenses if a west-facing run has collected grime. Owners who skip it typically don't notice a difference for years.

Two things worth doing yourself: tell your gutter cleaner the channel is there, and keep the controller's Wi-Fi password current after a router change.

Questions this guide gets

Is the warranty transferable if I sell the house?
Minleon's manufacturer warranty is not transferable. Our workmanship warranty transfers to the new owner for its remaining term with written notice.
Do you charge for warranty service calls?
Not for a covered part or workmanship failure during the term. Outside the term, a flat call-out plus parts.
Should I buy the 3-year premium warranty?
It's inexpensive relative to the install and covers the period when a factory defect would show. We'll quote it as a line item so you can decide.
